Sorry Fats, I have to disagree. Putting lubricant on the drive belt is a bad idea. It can cause the belt to slip and chew up the "teeth" real bad. WD40 is also a good solvent. It can soften the bonding agent holding the layers of Kevlar in the belt together.
If the belt is "squeeking" it's either out of alignment or too tight. Lots of shops tighten the belt as tight as they can thinking it will stretch. It doesn't. I've had mechanics do this on both my Savage and the HD.
Bruce, have you tried reving the engine up while it's on the stand and trying to determine exactly where the chirping sound is coming from? Might help you figure out what it is.
